Royal Salute Scotch Whisky Opens an Exclusive Tasting Chamber Inside the Historic Tower of London

Royal Salute Unveils Exclusive Tasting Room at Tower of London

In the hallowed confines of the Tower of London, history and luxury have fused to create the ultimate destination for Scotch enthusiasts: the Royal Salute Chamber. Nestled within the legendary Martin Tower, this new, exclusive tasting suite is a private experience reserved for true whisky connoisseurs.

As a proud, decade-long supporter of Historic Royal Palaces, Royal Salute has been granted privileged access to this historic space, transforming it into a discreet haven for appreciating the finest aged whisky.

Master Blender Sandy Hyslop confirms 95% of his blending job is done on the nose.

The Chamber: An Exclusive Experience

Access to the Chamber is strictly limited to a maximum of eight guests at a time, ensuring each visit feels highly personal and deeply memorable. The décor pays tribute to the tower’s remarkable past, featuring detailed illustrations of the Royal Menagerie on the walls, while an interactive tasting table guides guests through Royal Salute’s storied history. Furthermore, at the centre of the room are original display cabinets that once protected the legendary Koh-i-Noor and Cullinan Diamonds. Today, these same cabinets present the Treasures Collection, an unrivalled archive of rare and exquisite Royal Salute whiskies, which guests are invited to sample.

Introducing The 62 Gun Salute Collection

Visitors to the Chamber are also among the first to discover the new 62 Gun Salute Collection, a trio of expressions inspired by the highest ceremonial honour in the United Kingdom.

The 62 Gun Salute is an act of ultimate respect, fired exclusively from the Tower of London to mark the Birth, Accession, or Coronation of the Monarch. It combines 41 rounds from a London royal station with 21 extra rounds from the City of London as a mark of loyalty.

Inspired by this grand tradition, Royal Salute’s Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, used his forty years of expertise to create three extraordinary whiskies. This collection includes the award-winning 62 Gun Original Reserve (RRP £3,000), which embodies the signature Speyside sweetness blend. Alongside this are two new releases, both with an RRP of £3,300: the American Oak Reserve and the Peated Reserve. The American Oak Reserve delivers bright fruit notes, such as orange marmalade, mango, and pineapple, balanced by crisp apple and warming spice, while the Peated Reserve evokes the gentle smoke of the salute with waves of rich island peat, spiced sherry, and liquorice, using an extremely rare 26-year-old peated Caperdonich malt.

Access to the Chamber is strictly limited to a maximum of eight guests at a time.

The Wisdom of the Master Blender

Sandy Hyslop emphasises that blending begins with the senses, noting, “Ninety five percent of my job is done on the nose. I nose about 1,500 samples every week but only taste five or six.”

These blends take Royal Salute’s iconic 21 Year Old to an even higher level, featuring over fifty different rare malts and grains from Scotland’s most esteemed distilleries. When asked for his favorite blend, Sandy offers a genuine smile, saying choosing would be like picking a favourite child.

His serving advice is simple: there are no strict rules, but a drop of water will open the layers of flavour. He hopes this collection becomes the ultimate choice for marking life’s most significant moments. And if you are truly fortunate, that special toast may be raised in the company of good friends, within the timeless walls of the Royal Salute Chamber.
