This Limited-Edition Cashmere Tracksuit Is Almost Too Luxurious

Lockdowns made comfort king: sweats, joggers and even elegant pyjamas replaced stiff workwear. But once restrictions lifted, dressing up regained its thrill, and now, with quiet luxury leading the trend, our wardrobes have settled into a more refined and understated style.

Not so long ago, athleisure was fashion’s favourite word. Lockdowns made comfort king: sweats, joggers and even elegant pyjamas replaced stiff workwear. But once restrictions lifted, dressing up regained its thrill, and now, with quiet luxury leading the trend, our wardrobes have settled into a more refined and understated style.

Cutler is a perfect reflection of this shift. It is a discreet brand founded by Tenzin French, a thirty-something Englishman who lives by one rule: if you do something, do it beautifully and to the highest standard. Over coffee in a vintage-inspired suit with a tab-collar shirt, he tells me, “Quality, beauty and thoughtful design always go together. I hate throwaway trends.”

His latest creation, Gemino, is a two-piece cashmere tracksuit, or rather, the most luxurious cashmere separates you are likely to find anywhere (£2,300 for the top, £2,100 for the bottom). Available in three elegant shades (carbon, affogato and flute), Gemino is made from pure cashmere sourced from Italy’s finest mill, then knitted into an unusual double-faced jersey. The result is a fabric heavy and robust enough for daily wear, soft enough for lounging and smart enough for travel.
